The bike loop rides the shoreline of Réservoir Choinière through forest, and the night is in the named sectors along that water. Les Bruants, Les Chouettes, and Le Rivage are the pockets people book for a night out of LaSalle. Highway 10 east from town reaches Granby in the Eastern Townships, with the reservoir on the far side of that drive.
Camping du parc de la Yamaska is how you stay for that loop. You leave the van in the sector, get on the path, and the bank stays with you until you roll back in. Granby is the town beside the park, and Zoo de Granby is the one-time add-on, a walk through the Animal Park on a day you already spent at the reservoir.
Reserve a site through SÉPAQ before you commit to the van. The campground is the first booking. Park access is bought online ahead of the gate, up to 30 days out.
As of September 2026, SÉPAQ has the supervised swimming area closed for cyanobacteria, and campground water is non-potable. Drink from the dispenser at the Les Mésanges sanitary block, and fill trailer tanks at the beach pavilion. The beach lot has EV charging. If the van is tight on bunks, look at RV rentals in LaSalle.
Lachine Rapids and the Lachine Canal
Parc des Rapides is at home in LaSalle. Surfers work the whitewater against the Montreal skyline, anglers stand in the same current, and herons hold the shoreline. Ville de Montréal calls that colony the largest in Québec.
The multi-use trail follows Boulevard LaSalle toward the Old Port, a walk or a ride that stays with the river through town. On the Lachine Canal, Parks Canada runs learn-to-paddle and kayak programs, with lockage if you are in a boat. A morning on the rapids bank and an afternoon on the canal both happen without leaving LaSalle.
You spend those hours here, then you go. Parc des Rapides is day use, with no camping on site.
Fort Chambly on the Richelieu
Fort Chambly's stone walls stand over the Richelieu with boats on the water. Parks Canada calls it the only fort in the greater Montreal area, open mid-May through mid-October. There is no camping at the fort.
