Walk the spit at Blackie Spit before dusk. Sleep at Hazelmere if you don't already hold a public site. Book Golden Ears in Maple Ridge for a public site.
Derby Reach in Langley is the closer Fraser riverbank pad. Both fill on summer long weekends.
Blackie Spit into Mud Bay
Walk the spit into Mud Bay at the Nicomekl mouth, North Shore Mountains across the water.
The City of Surrey keeps Blackie Spit open from dawn until dusk as of August 2026, and the parking lot gate closes at 10 pm. On the spit trail, stay on the central path. That stretch is a coastal sand dune, no dogs or bikes.
Crescent Beach is the same coast, same rule. Come back to Hazelmere.
The white Peace Arch on the 49th parallel keeps its iron gates open over a Canadian-flag flower garden. BC Parks allows no camping anywhere in the park as of August 2026. Sleep at Hazelmere after.
Hazelmere on 8th Avenue
If you get in without a public reservation, stay at Hazelmere RV Park and Campground, 18843 8th Avenue in South Surrey. Come in on Highway 99 or Highway 15, then east on 8th. Groceries and fuel sit on Highway 15 or in South Surrey before that turn.
Hazelmere stays open year-round for RV camping. As of August 2026, Hazelmere's camping page lists full hookups at 55 dollars a night, River Camp partial hookups at 65, and dry camping at 40, with a sani-dump on site.
If Hazelmere is full, Peace Arch RV Park at 14601 40th Avenue and Pacific Border RV Park at 67 175A Street are other South Surrey hookup pads. There is no municipal campground in Surrey. Do not try Tynehead Regional Park or Peace Arch Park as a van night.
If you already hold a Golden Ears or Edgewater Bar site, sleep on that reservation. Highway 99 already points at Tsawwassen. The Island overnight is a Vancouver campervan trip.
