The Cabot Trail's night is on the headland at Cape Breton Highlands, where the Skyline Trail's boardwalk looks over the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the switchbacks you just drove. The clifftop loop follows the headland, a walk from a night inside the park. The Cabot Trail runs between Chéticamp and Ingonish to reach it, with Baddeck and Ingonish the towns on the road.
Chéticamp, Broad Cove, and Ingonish Beach are reserved through Parks Canada. In July and August the site is the first booking and the van is the second. Camping runs mid-May into late October, as of September 2026.
From North Sydney, Marine Atlantic runs the ferry to Newfoundland.
Kejimkujik National Park
After dark on Kejimkujik Lake the sky is dark enough for the Milky Way, and the park wants red light only. Daylight is a canoe on that lake, or a lakeside view of the same water. The park is a Dark-Sky Preserve designated by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and the Visitor Centre rents self-guided dark-sky kits from June through October.
Jeremy's Bay has sites for tents, RVs, and trailers on the Parks Canada Reservation Service. If you need more sleeping space than a campervan, RVs for rent in Nova Scotia fit those pads. The season runs mid-May through October, and camping is not allowed the rest of the year.
The Bay of Fundy and the Annapolis Valley
From the look-off at Five Islands Provincial Park, the tidal flats run out to the islands and the tide walks out and back across the basin. Nova Scotia Parks describes that view as "the world's highest tides." Serviced pull-throughs take the van from early June through early October.
Blomidon Provincial Park looks over the Minas Basin mud flats, a saltwater beach when the tide is in and mud flats when it is out. Sites are unserviced, mid-May through early October, reserved through Nova Scotia Parks. Wolfville and the Annapolis Valley are inland of that shore.
Cape Chignecto Provincial Park is walk-in from the Red Rocks trailhead at the Park Office, with backcountry campsites on the Fundy headland and no vehicle camping.
Halifax is Peggy's Cove and the harbour day. Dartmouth is the Eastern Shore, and Bedford is Grand Lake.
New Brunswick is the road west, and Prince Edward Island is across the Northumberland Strait.
