Riding Mountain and Clear Lake

Four parks do the work in Manitoba. Riding Mountain is the Clear Lake stay at Wasagaming, the Whiteshell and Grand Beach are the lake weekends, and Spruce Woods is the dune hike at Spirit Sands. Camping runs mid-May through mid-October, and the serviced pads go first.

Wasagaming, the Whiteshell, and the Spirit Sands

The pier at Wasagaming sticks out into Clear Lake, and you swim off the beach beside it and sleep in the same townsite. Boreal forest, aspen parkland, and eastern deciduous woods share the park roads that lead to that water. July fills because this is the lake people want to wake up on.

West of the townsite, Lake Audy Road leaves Highway 10 or Provincial Road 354 and runs out to a captive plains bison herd on summer and winter pastures. Parks Canada lets you through by vehicle only, and you stay in the van while you look. It is a slow pass along the fence, and it belongs on the same Wasagaming night as the beach.

Wasagaming Campground is the overnight for that lake. Parks Canada's camping page lists full-service, electric, water-and-electric, and unserviced sections, and the accessible sites take a trailer or motorhome up to 35 feet as of September 2026. If you need more sleeping room or a longer rig than those accessible pads allow, look at Manitoba RV rentals.

Reserve the site first through the Parks Canada Reservation System. The van is the second booking, and a serviced pad is a different listing from an unserviced one. The campground runs mid-May through mid-October, with reduced sections and services in the May-June and September-October shoulder weeks.

Highway 10 is the road north from Brandon to Wasagaming. It is the prairie approach, and the townsite is at the end of it.

Whiteshell Provincial Park

East on Highway 1 the rock turns to granite and jack pine, and the lakes sit in that Shield country in a tight cluster. Whiteshell Provincial Park is the weekend people already know, and Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake are the campground overnights that catch a van arriving from Ontario. Manitoba Parks calls West Hawk a meteorite lake for swimming and diving, and Falcon Lake is the other improved stay on the same stretch of highway.

Grand Beach on Lake Winnipeg

The sand at Grand Beach is pale and wide on Lake Winnipeg, with dunes behind the swimming. Grand Beach Provincial Park is that shoreline plus the campground off it, with electric and basic sites. Winnipeg uses this as the Lake Winnipeg weekend, the van on a pad and the beach in front of the dunes.

Spirit Sands at Spruce Woods

Open sand blows at Spirit Sands, and the Devils Punch Bowl is the spring-fed pond at the foot of those dunes. Steels Ferry Overlook looks over the Assiniboine valley from the same park. Kiche Manitou Campground is the night, with a range of sites and group camping, and you walk the dunes from there.

Book Kiche Manitou, and the Whiteshell and Grand Beach campgrounds, through the Manitoba Parks Reservation Service, online, by phone, or in person. Reservations stay open through the camping season, and full-service, electric, and large-RV sites fill first as of September 2026.

Churchill has no road. You get there by VIA Rail train or by plane from Winnipeg.

West of Riding Mountain the next parks are in Saskatchewan. South of Manitoba, Fargo is a natural next overnight. Keep going and Minneapolis is the next city.
