The oak savanna at Pinery Provincial Park is the night, and the Lake Huron beach at Grand Bend is right there in the morning. A boardwalk runs through the dunes and pine until the oaks break and the sand stretches both ways along the water. Walking and biking trails stay in that same belt of coastal dunes. Grand Bend is the town up the road.
Ontario Parks lists three campgrounds at Pinery. Riverside has electrical, non-electrical, and pull-through sites, and Area 1 stays open year-round for shoulder and winter nights. Burley has no electricity and sits near the beach, the summer pad closest to the sand without hookups. Dunes mixes electrical, pop-up trailer, and tent sites near the beach as well, and both Burley and Dunes run May to September.
The pad is the first booking, the van the second. Ontario Parks accepts reservations up to five months in advance of the arrival date, and Grand Bend summer weekends fill on that window. A Burley site with no hookups is a different rental from a Riverside electrical pull-through, so read the site type before you choose the vehicle.
Campsites are reserved by trailer-size tier, up to 18, 25, 32, and over 32 feet. A few parks in the system cannot take trailers over 32 feet, so match the tier when you book. If you need more sleeping space or a longer rig than a campervan, look at RVs for rent in London.
Fanshawe Conservation Area
For a first night in the city, camp on the reservoir at Fanshawe Conservation Area. RV and trailer sites sit among the trees, set back from the water, and the Lake Trail follows the shoreline for bikes and walkers. You can start that path from the pad and be back without crossing the city. Stay here when you want a London night, then run up to Grand Bend for the beach days.
The conservation authority lists electrical service at 15, 30, and 50 amp as of September 2026, and says the campground is busy on weekends from late June to early September and full on most holiday weekends. Book the site first here too.
Port Stanley is the Lake Erie day from London, a Blue Flag main beach at the mouth of Kettle Creek with a small harbour village behind it. Little Beach is a shallower stretch nearby, and there is no campground in the village.
Rondeau Provincial Park is the Chatham overnight if you point southwest. Point Pelee is a Windsor trip.
Kitchener is the next city east, with Laurel Creek as that overnight. Highway 401 runs on toward Windsor and the Detroit river crossings, and Detroit is the Michigan handoff.
