Yes. From May through October the gate locks at 2 p.m., moving to 5 p.m. in October and 10 p.m. from November through April, per the park's posted hours. During the early-lock months the park sends registered campers the gate code ahead of arrival by phone, email, and text, so book in advance and watch for it. Rolling in late on a summer night without that code means sleeping outside the gate.

Sometimes, and around Indio it comes down to one address. Delivery here means a site you have already reserved at Lake Cahuilla through RivCo Parks, with the seasonal gate code in hand before the driver sets off. Without that code the drop does not happen after the early lock, which runs 2 p.m. from May through October. It also does not happen in the festival lots at the Empire Polo Club, which run on their own passes and rules and are covered on the Coachella lander, or in the Cottonwood Spring lots at Joshua Tree's south entrance, which are there for the day; overnight inside the park is on the Joshua Tree lander. Whether an owner will drive the van out at all is listing by listing, so ask before you book.

On the valley floor, barely. Indio sits near sea level, the summer days are brutal, and the nights stay warm, so a van down here needs hookups and air conditioning to sleep. Joshua Tree runs cooler at elevation, with spring and fall highs near 85 F and summer nights not far below 75 F, per the National Park Service. For the valley itself, plan a campervan trip for fall through spring.

Both festivals run at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and each sells its own on-site car camping and RV lots; Coachella's 2027 weekends are 9 to 11 and 16 to 18 April, per the festival.
