Craigleith and Blue Mountain on Georgian Bay

Collingwood's overnight is a Georgian Bay campground under Blue Mountain. Summer nights land at Craigleith Provincial Park, with Wasaga Beach Provincial Park as the day. Winter closes that campground, so you ski Blue Mountain from a night somewhere else.

Collingwood campervan nights on Georgian Bay

A Craigleith site on Georgian Bay faces Blue Mountain's slopes across the water, and the next day is spent on them. Wind comes off the water at night. Morning starts on the bay, and the escarpment is what you climb.

The Bruce Trail, the Georgian Trail, and Blue Mountain Village all start from this stretch of shore. Summer is hiking and biking on the escarpment, then an afternoon in the village when you want a street instead of a trail. You can walk those trails from the campground and still be back on the bay at night.

Winter is ski and snowboard on the same face, and the village stays the stop after the hill. Craigleith's campground runs spring through mid-fall, so it is shut for ski season. Collingwood still works as a ski-base then, with the van at a campground that is open and the hill done as a day trip.

The park is car-camping, electrical and non-electrical, across Areas A through D. Areas C and D take RVs and trailers. If you need more sleeping space than a campervan, look at RVs for rent in Collingwood.

In summer, lock a Craigleith site before you book the van. Electrical pads are the ones that go first, and that reserved pad is what you are sleeping on.

On the escarpment above town, Scenic Caves Nature Adventures has a suspension bridge the operator calls southern Ontario's longest, with lookouts toward Georgian Bay.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is the swim and the long sand, with the drive back to Craigleith at night. Ontario Parks calls it the longest freshwater beach in the world.

As of September 2026, Ontario Parks shows Wasaga Beach as day use only, with no camping. A Craigleith vehicle permit covers day access to the beach. Book the Craigleith night and the beach day comes with it.

Further along Georgian Bay, Barrie is the base for Awenda Provincial Park. Owen Sound is the base for Bruce Peninsula National Park. South of the escarpment, a Toronto trip is a different week, pointed at Algonquin.
