From the picnic-shelter clearing at Kanaskat-Palmer State Park, you hear the Green River before you see it. The forested plateau drops into a gorge of whitewater, and gravel pads boxed in by boulders are the overnight on that bank. Put-ins and take-outs use the same stretch of river. This is the closest reservable state-park camping this side of Bellevue.
The campground has partial-hookup sites. Kanaskat-Palmer caps those pads at 50 feet with limited availability at that length, so a longer RV is a different booking.
Washington State Parks takes campsite reservations from mid-May through mid-September. Book the pad in that window first, then the van. Outside those dates, camping reverts to first-come, first-served.
Downstream, Flaming Geyser State Park shares the same river and is the day from those pads. A stone-lined pit sits in a fenced circular clearing, and the flame is no longer a sure thing. Hiking and horse trails run along the salmon-run stretch of the Green River, and the park is day-use only and does not offer camping.
Tiger Mountain and Rattlesnake Ledge
Tiger Mountain is the ridge walk, a dense second-growth trail network in the state forest, with Poo Poo Point launching hang gliders and paragliders over the valley. Washington DNR lists every Tiger Mountain trailhead as day-use only, with no campgrounds, and a Discover Pass covers parking.
Rattlesnake Ledge is the other walk. From the parking at Rattlesnake Lake, off I-90, a two-mile trail climbs to an exposed rock ledge over the Cedar River Watershed reservoir. The open rock and the water below it are the reason to walk it. The scenic area is day-use only, so the van stays in the lot.
Snoqualmie Falls
Snoqualmie Falls drops over Puget Sound Energy's hydro plant, and the upper viewpoint frames the full drop. North Bend and Snoqualmie are the towns on either side of that stop. Admission is free, and RV parking is available.
Lake Sammamish State Park is the swim day at Sunset and Tibbetts beaches, with no camping, and both the Issaquah Creek bridge and the Tibbetts Creek bridge are closed due to erosion as of September 2026.
Olympic National Park and Snoqualmie Pass belong on a Seattle itinerary. The I-90 corridor east of the pass is a Redmond trip.
