The infield at Talladega Superspeedway fills from a line of rigs staged at Tunnel 3 on the Wednesday of race week, each one headed for a pad inside the tri-oval. Once you're parked, the banking climbs away on every side. From the motorhomes along the Alabama Gang Superstretch you watch the pack come off the turn and fan out in front of you, and between sessions the infield tram loops through the rows. By the weekend the place feels like a neighborhood with a racetrack wrapped around it, and the family on the next pad is part of the trip.
The infield keeps a rig for up to five nights, according to the speedway's FAQs. That's long enough that power and sewer at the pad shape the whole week. Finish Line Premium and Purple are the full-hookup tracts, with 50-amp power, water and sewer at each spot, while the Frontrunner's Club rows share water, per the camping guidelines.
The tract you land also decides the rig. Superstretch and Finish Line Premium cap rigs at 50 feet under those same guidelines, so book the spot before you choose a motorhome. For two people who only need beds between races, a Talladega campervan covers the same infield weekend in a much smaller spot.
Then there's getting a spot at all. As of September 2026 the speedway's fall camping page shows most of its RV tracts sold out with waitlist options, and it lists the outside lots around the property by tract alongside the infield. Race weekend books up the motorhomes in the listings and the pads at private parks nearby at the same time, so the tract or park site comes first and the rig second. A waitlist spot is worth taking before you write off the infield.
Rolling into Talladega a day or two early means another pad, because the infield won't let a rig in before that Wednesday line forms. A sold-out tract list sends you to the same answer, a hookup park off the track.
Talladega Knights RV Park, a hookup base off the speedway
Big oaks shade the lots at Talladega Knights RV Park, and race week there trades the infield's noise for campfire rings, a slower morning, and a free shuttle to the gate on race day. The park's amenities page lists full hookups at 30 and 50 amp, water and sewer, so a family can sit out a parked week with the air running and leave the rig where it is.
Knights takes reservations for its April and October race weeks, and those sites draw the same crowd that missed the infield, so lock one in before booking the motorhome. Open year round, the park also works for the off-race months, when the speedway tracts aren't an overnight. Those months belong to the hardwood ridges of Cheaha State Park in the Talladega National Forest and to Logan Martin Lake and the underground rooms of Majestic Caverns, all covered on the Talladega campervan page. Check Cheaha's own campground pages for hookups before committing a long motorhome there, and the Alabama RV page has the Gulf beach week and the big lakes elsewhere in the state.
