Auburn's campus Hayfields, off South Donahue Drive and Samford Avenue, are rows of motorhomes parked nose to tail on the grass, generator exhaust stacks up over the roofs and awnings out. The rigs roll in on the Friday afternoon before a home game, and by dark the rows have the hum of a neighborhood that only exists on football weekends. On Saturday the whole field empties toward the stadium in one slow crowd, then fills back up around the grills after the final whistle.
The rig is the reason this works for a family. Kids nap in the bunk between the tailgate and kickoff, the fridge holds Saturday's food, and nobody has to fight game traffic back to a hotel across town. Sunday is a slow breakfast at the dinette before the rows start to clear.
That Hayfield spot is the booking that decides the weekend. On-campus RV parking for 2026 is reserved and bought in advance through Auburn Athletics, which sells it through RevelXP, and every RV has to be off campus by Sunday afternoon. Hold the spot first, then match the rig's dates to it.
University Station and Auburn RV Park as a gameday base
At a hookup park, Friday night is a bonfire and football on a big screen, and Saturday's tailgate moves to the row of pads with grills going between the rigs. University Station RV Resort on AL-14 runs a shuttle to the game, and every lot has full hookups with water, sewer and 30/50 amp. It also keeps RV repair and propane on site and welcomes pets, which helps on a first weekend behind the wheel of a rented motorhome.
Auburn RV Park is the other base, about 4 miles from campus, and it sells football packages for home weekends. The air stays on, the shower is your own, and the walk back from a late game ends at a plugged-in rig instead of a grass field.
On a home-game weekend the Hayfields, both parks and the motorhomes in the rental listings all go to the same crowd on the same dates. Season packages tie up sites across the fall, so a single weekend is the tighter booking. Confirm the site, then book the rig for those exact nights.
Talladega's race weekends are the other Alabama event that fills pads and rigs this way, and the Talladega RV page covers those lots. The state's beach and lake weeks are on the Alabama RV page.
Summer at the Auburn RV Park pools, off I-85
In summer the same kind of rig stays put for a week at Auburn RV Park, off I-85 at exit 51 and the only privately owned RV park inside Auburn city limits. The draw is water. There's a lagoon pool, a beach-entry pool the little kids can wade into a few steps from the rig, and creekside sites with shade over the pad.
The pools open in early May, and the gated park has full hookups at 50/30 amp with pull-through and back-in sites. With sewer at the pad, nobody breaks camp for a dump run, so the rig stays level and the air runs through the hottest afternoons while the day goes pool, lunch in the shade, pool again.
For a day away from the pool, Chewacla State Park has its falls and a swimming lake close to town, along with 36 full-hookup sites if you'd rather move the rig for a night. On Lake Martin, Wind Creek State Park has waterfront and sewer sites, worth booking early for a lake weekend. Both are written up on the Auburn campervan page, the better fit when it's two people instead of a family in a full-size rig.
