Lake George nights in a motorhome end at the same resort site all week, with the park trolley making its loop and, in summer, the kids already in one of three heated pools. Days run out from that site to the lake, where the cruiseboats head up the water under hills gone red and orange by October, and back again for a fire after dinner. The rig doesn't move between those nights, and for a family that's the reason to bring one.
Lake George RV Park is the one most families land on, a 400-site resort where every RV site has water, septic, cable and 30 and 50 amp electric, plus a picnic table and a fire ring. Ledgeview Village RV Park is the other private resort in the running, and from either one the village, the shore and the boats are a morning drive.
Some families start with a night close to Saratoga Springs, at one of the parks on the race-course side of town, and head up to the lake the next morning. Others go straight to the lake resort and drive back down to Saratoga for a day later in the week.
Spring and fall at the lake run on their own calendar, which Lake George RV Park fills with foliage weekends, the Adirondack Nationals car show, a balloon festival, Oktoberfest and the maple festivals. Those event weekends fill, and they're the ones to reserve first.
The islands and the state campgrounds on the lake suit a two-person trip in something smaller, and the Saratoga Springs campervan page covers them. That page also has the state park nights nearer town, at Moreau Lake, Spa State Park, Great Sacandaga Lake and Luzerne on Fourth Lake.
North of the lake the Adirondacks climb into high peaks and long lakes, a bigger trip of their own. The New York RV page takes a rig into them, and the Adirondack Mountains campervan page has the smaller-rig version.
Saratoga race meet and SPAC concert weekends
Summer in Saratoga Springs belongs to the track. The meet runs 46 days from early July through Labor Day, as of October 2026, with the Whitney in early August and the Travers late in the month, and the hour worth getting up for is morning training, watched over a buffet breakfast at the track. Concert weekends at SPAC stack onto the same weeks, so one trip can hold a post time and a show.
Whispering Pines is the family RV resort for both, 112 sites under pines on 75 acres near the race course and SPAC, and its RV sites carry water, sewer, cable, Wi-Fi and 20, 30 and 50 amp electric. Saratoga RV Park in Gansevoort is the other close-in base, about 10 miles from the race course by the park's own count.
Race weeks and concert weekends land on the same summer dates, so they pull on the same pads and the same motorhomes. Whispering Pines books Belmont Week in June, Travers Week, its biggest concert weekend and Labor Day weekend as special-event weekends with a full deposit, as of October 2026, and the rigs in the listings go out for those dates at the same time the sites do.
