An East Carolina home Saturday builds toward the Pirate Walk, when Tailgate Plaza fills with purple and gold and the marching band carries the noise across to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. By the time the stadium lights come on, the RVs lined up in the Carol Belk lot along Charles Boulevard have been tailgating for hours, awnings out and coolers open. A rig on the lot gives a family a kitchen, a bathroom and air conditioning on game day, which counts for a lot in early-season heat on the coastal plain.
The university runs that general-public RV lot at the Carol Belk Building by advance reservation only, and the lots open six hours before kickoff on weekends as of October 2026. Reserve that space, or a hookup site outside town, before you book the motorhome. Home weekends fill the lot and the hookup parks around Greenville on the same dates that local rigs get booked, so a late plan tends to lose both.
Home games run from late summer into November. The early ones are hot and humid, and the later ones still fall in hurricane season on the coastal plain, so keep an eye on the forecast the week you drive in.
Manning RV Campsites and Pirates Place, the nights around the game
The rest of the weekend sleeps at a hookup park outside town. Manning RV Campsites on Sunnyside Road is the close-in first night, near enough to come in for Freeboot Friday and get back without a long haul. Its 40 sites on 17 acres are pull-through, with water, electric and sewer at 30 and 50 amp, so the air runs through a muggy afternoon and the tanks empty at the site before you head home.
The weekend falls naturally into three nights. Thursday is the drive in and the first hookup, Friday belongs to Freeboot Friday, and on game day the motorhome rolls over to the Carol Belk lot when it opens and comes back to the site after the final whistle. Neither Manning nor ECU posts a length limit for its pads as of October 2026, so give both your rig's length when you reserve. If it's only two of you for one game, a campervan from the North Carolina listings is a smaller rig for the same weekend.
Pirates Place Campground and RV Park on NC-43 South is the second pad when Manning is full, and its name tells you who books it in the fall.
If the stay stretches past Sunday, Lake Phelps in Pettigrew State Park is a day out across the flat Inner Banks country, a black-water lake ringed with cypress and still enough to hold the sky. Its campgrounds are closed for renovations through 2026, so the rig comes back to its hookups for the night. A beach week on the Crystal Coast is a separate trip with its own Emerald Isle RV page, and the North Carolina RV page maps out the rest of the state.
