Mets spring training turns Port St. Lucie into a baseball town from February into March. Clover Park opens its workouts to fans early in the spring, and the Grapefruit League home games take over from late February. Plenty of the families who drive down for it stay the whole week.
Evenings end at the Savannas Recreation Area, a St. Lucie County campground on the Savannas Preserve, west of the coast. Freshwater marsh, flatwoods and open water wrap around the sites, canoes sit pulled up on the sand, and the Cracker House Trading Post's wraparound porch looks out over the wetlands.
The week falls into an easy rhythm for a family motorhome. The RV sites carry full hookups, with water, sewer and electric, so the rig stays cool on the afternoons you skip the ballpark, and laundry, WiFi and fire rings cover the rest of a long stay. On game days, Clover Park's lot keeps a separate RV and bus parking category as of October 2026, if you'd rather bring the rig along than leave it plugged in.
Holding a Savannas site through Mets season
Book the site first and the motorhome second. Spring training lands on snowbird peak, so baseball families and winter regulars chase the same Treasure Coast hookup pads and the same rigs in the listings through February and March. Even the Fort Pierce West KOA sells the spring as a Mets stay.
The county doesn't post a length cap or an amp rating for the Savannas sites, so ask about your rig's length when you register and rent to fit the site you're given. If the answer comes back short, or the trip turns out to be just two of you, a campervan from the Florida listings needs a lot less pad.
Port St. Lucie RV Resort is the other park renters search for by name, with 30 and 50 amp big-rig sites and online booking as of October 2026. It's an adult park for those 55 and over, built around snowbirds settling in for the winter, so a family with kids belongs at the Savannas.
Fort Pierce, the inlet jetty and the Navy SEAL Museum
Fort Pierce, just up the coast, makes the day off between games. Start at the inlet, where the jetty reaches out into the Atlantic, then give the afternoon to the Navy SEAL Museum, which first opened on Veterans Day 1985. Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a day stop on this trip, and the rig goes back to its hookups at the Savannas for the night.
Heading south instead, the Corps campground at the St. Lucie Lock and Dam, where boats lock through on the Okeechobee Waterway, is the week on the Stuart RV page. Fort Myers and St. Petersburg run spring-training weeks of their own, and the Florida RV page lines them up.
